Memorial Day

Feeding the Ducks at Silver Lake

Such concentration!
Yesterday we spent the day with friends at a local lake/park. It was a lot of fun to bad it wasn't THAT great of a day, but at least it wasn't raining! I couldn't believe how crowded it was! It was a great way to spend the day off, a little too crowded for me, but Andrew loved feeding the ducks and playing on the playground.

FUN TIMES!!!

Now that birthdays are over for awhile in our house, I thought I'd post a few pictures of the fun things we did to celebrate! Bob took the week off, so we had lots of fun together

Bob got the new Mario Kart Wii for his birthday, they ALL have been enjoying it, even Benjamin lovesto get in on the action
Benjamin LOVED his number one cake, it took him a little to get into it, but as you can see, once he did, he REALLY enjoyed himself!
We spent one of the days attempting to fly kites at the park, we weren't to succesful but have since heardo f better places to go, we'll have to give them a try. Andrew enjoyed just running with it anyway.
We went camping at Cascade Park, one of the church owned sites around here, Benjamin wanted to get inonthe action of blowing up the air mattress, he would een go as far as to pull it outof Bob's mouth so he could put his on it, what a little helper!
This is the river by where we camped. Andrew lOVES to throw rocks in it.

Thanks Pam!!

I saw this on my friends blog, thought you all might enjoy it, I know my boys are still young, but I know the day will come ALL TO SOON!! please feel free to add on.
I was reading the paper today and came across the re-run of the article, The 8 Simple Rules for Marrying My Daughter (Fireside, 2008) We hear the Father of the girls side. So, as a mother of only sons.. I thought I might counter a few of these rules and show the mother of the boy's prospective. Dedicated to moms of sons everywhere!(PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ON In the COMMENT section) Who said we need to stop at 8 rules anyway?

Since after all, dating is just a game of "RING AROUND THE FINGER"…. Lets set down a few rules of the game..

Rule 1. (How to Dress) Please don’t dress like a hoochie momma when you go on a date with my son! Dear father of the girl … instead of sitting there talking about how you are going to be cleaning your gun and question my son about his intentions… why not look at your daughter see how she is dressed and then question her about her intentions?
Rule 2.(Calling in A Substitution)There are MANY MANY other girls your age, don’t fool yourself, you CAN be replaced! And, if you are replaced, have some self respect, don’t pull the "I am going to kill myself act". … you know what happens? Believe it or not you don’t get back together; Instead your prize is... a free 3 night stay in the psycho ward!
Rule 3 (GAME OVER)…Just cause you two broke up, this DOES NOT give you license to change my sons character. YOUR friends don’t need to be texting, calling or emailing my son to tell him what you think. Believe it or not.. it doesn’t matter what they think!
Rule 4. (Money, Money ,Money)When dating my teenage son, Please be considerate of his finances when ordering off a menu, he worked hard for that steak and that tank of gas to drive you there!
Rule 5. (The reality check) When you marry my son, REMEMBER-It takes TIME to acquire the things your parents have. He will treat you like a queen, but it will take several years before you move into that dream castle. Keep your expectations in check in the early years for Valentine and Christmas gifts.
Rule 6. (What to call me) You may wonder what to call me. Unlike the article that demands the “boy” call your dad "SIR"… We would prefer you call us mom, not only to our face… but also behind our backs.
Rule 7.(Contract Agreements) The vows you will be taking commit you to be faithful to my son “till death do you part” Be advise if you break that vow, I’ll immediately help expedite second part of that contract!
Rule 8 (Friend or Foe) We can be your BEST ally. .. Or your worst nightmare.. The choice is yours. … Oh and PS I can take your dad….

Pirate's Who Don't Do Anything

All the kids wore bandana's and eye patches, it was great because we could see them from a distance at the park and knew who belonged to us!! The kids thought it was pretty great!
For our first shot at decorating, I think we did pretty good, it's definetly NOT as easy as I thought. But Bob did pretty good. From the leftover of Benjamin's cake,we made a small number 1 just for him, Andrew frosted it and decorated it, He still hasn't eaten it yet, he got shy at the party, so tomorrow, on his actual birthday we'll try again.

Last week was the combined birthday party for the boys. Andrew couldn't decide between pirates or Veggie Tales. So,we had a pirates who don't do anything party. The boys had a blast we had it at a park and all though it threatened rain all day, it didn't. YEAH!! We were able to bbq and spend time with friends. I've always thought about making their cakes, but have caved and bought one, not this year. So, together Bob and I made a pirate hat cake, designed after the captain of the Pirate's Who Don't Do Anything, and of course a number 1 hat. We even had a treasure chest pinata. unfortunately I was having more fun video taping and Bob was having fun swinging it for the kids, so no one remembered to take a picture. Oh well, it was fun anyway. Thank you to all who came and made their party a memorable one.

Happy May Day!!

It's May Day. And when I was growing up, that ment making baskets for my friends, filling them with candy and leaving them on the door step, knocking and then running away before they could catch us. So, I decided that I loved it as a kidso I would introduce Andrew to the idea. He LOVED it!!! He gota kick out of knocking and then running. Of course it took him a few houses to catch on, and he decided he liked it better if he got to put the basket on the step, then run a bit to get a head start, then have me knock. It was so cute!! I dont' know how descrete we were, I'm sure some figured it out,and we got caught twice, but it was still fun. So, Happy May Day to ALL!!!
